What You Will Need for Vegan Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

  • Flour – All-purpose flour makes for a great batter base.
  • Sugar – Granulated sugar puts the sweetness there.
  • Baking powder – Well, you want these donuts to rise up so don’t forget this ingredient!
  • Dairy-free milk – We used oat milk for this but your favorite dairy-free milk option can also work too.
  • Applesauce – Donut batter needs a binder and without an egg, applesauce is your vegan BFF to get the job done.
  • Vegan cooking butter – This one is easy to find, but be sure to get it melted first to put in the batter.
  • Cinnamon – You’ll want this in the batter as well as on the outside to really give it an amazing taste.
  • Salt – Critical for balance.
  • Coating – You’ll combine cinnamon and sugar and make it stick with more vegan butter.

Make Your Own Vegan Baked Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

Did you know you can make this baked vegan donut recipe in just 30 minutes? That’s faster than it takes to drive to a donut shop, be disappointed that there are no vegan donuts after waiting in a long line, and drive back home.

But to make these, you do need to have a donut pan. They usually feature room for 8, which is perfect since that’s how many vegan donuts you’ll get from this recipe.

Be sure you spray your donut pan with non-stick spray. Avocado oil works great for this because it’s vegan.

While the oven does its thing, you will combine your dry ingredients for the batter in one bowl. Then you’ll add the wet ingredients to it, resulting in a thick batter.

It helps to have a piping bag which makes it SO much easier to get your batter into the donut pan. What you want to avoid though is filling them up too much. Don’t put the batter up to the top or you’re going to have wonky donuts that won’t have holes.

It’s only 20 minutes of baking time, but we’ll admit it feels like a lifetime because the smell is heavenly and you’ll be salivating in anticipation. You’ll have to wait just a wee bit longer when they’re done so they cool, about 10 minutes. Then you can coat them with the cinnamon and sugar.

They’ll still be warm at this point, which is the absolute best time to enjoy the fruits of your vegan donut labor. And as you’ll see from the full recipe below, it’s minimally laborious yet gives you the vegan donuts you deserve!
