What You Will Need for Easy Rose Cookies

  • Butter – Make sure it’s at room temperature.
  • Sugar – Use granulated.
  • Egg – One egg will bind your cookie dough together
  • Flour – All-purpose works great here.
  • Vanilla extract – Adds that essential sweetness.
  • Salt – And this keeps the sweetness from overpowering the cookie.
  • Colored food gels – You will choose the colors you want. For example, for Halloween, you could use orange, purple, and black. One will be to color the cream cheese filling.

How to Make Easy Rose Shaped Cookies

In less than 30 minutes, you’ll have beautiful cookies you can make for any festive occasion. We love that the food coloring can set the mood for any event, and the rose shapes are so easy to make yet everyone will think you spent hours putting them together.

If you’ve never made your own cookie dough, you should know that a mixer will be the best tool you’ve got for the job. You’ll put the butter, egg, sugar, and vanilla in there while the oven is preheating.

Your objective is to blend this mixture until it becomes creamy, then you can add the flour and salt.

Now, let’s say you want a bunch of orange and purple roses with a black center for Halloween. You’ll divide up the dough into two portions and put orange on one and purple on the other.

What about that black coloring then? That goes with the cream cheese. Whip it together and let it wait for your cookies.

You can see where this is going right? Fill the pastry bags each with a color and pipe them out in a rotated motion onto your parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Once it all cools, you can fill them with the cream cheese filling.

The photos show you what this will look like for Halloween, but you can swap out the colors for anything you like to make it for any occasion. The full recipe walks you through it all below so you can make a delicious bouquet for anyone you know!
