The Easiest Cookie Dough Ice Cream

The most  delicious, creamy and velvet cookie dough ice cream ever! You don’t need an ice cream machine to make a mouthwatering treat at home.

I used to dream with an ice cream machine. I wanted to be able to make ice cream, sorbets and cold treats at home. Imagine the possibilities of creating your own flavors and experimenting with your own combinations. However my counter space is pretty much non-existent anymore and having one extra appliance seemed a little bit too much.

Needless to say homemade ice creams weren’t something I was making. That’s until I found myself with the biggest cookie dough ice cream craving in the world. After some trials, errors and a lot of experimenting (and failing!) I finally found a recipe.

Honestly this shoulnt be called a recipe, it’s more like a hack because it’s so so easy! You don’t need speciality ingredients, you don’t need any equipment, you don’t need to shake anything every 5 minutes. Mix, freeze, eat. That’s all you need to do.

How to make ice cream at home without an ice cream machine

You’ll probably already have seen thousands of tricks online, I tried them all and honestly half of them don’t work. This one does.

You need to start with heavy whipping cream and condensed milk. That’s all.

Whisk the heavy cream until light and airy. Pour the condensed milk and continue whisking until you have a fluffy, sweet ice cream base. Then transfer to a baking pan and take to the freezer for 2 hours.

That’s it.

Seriously, only heavy cream and condensed milk. The heavy cream gives the ice cream that air it needs to be fluffy (and not hard as ice) while the condensed milk gives it sweetness, flavor and also prevents the ice cream from forming ice crystals (so basically it keeps it creamy).

The cookie dough ice cream:

To make it a cookie dough ice cream I added some chocolate chips and some cookie dough pieces. You can make the cookie dough from scratch (from one of my cookie recipes) or you can use store bought cookie dough and just rip some chunks to mix into the ice cream.

My only advice here is go big with the cookie dough. We all honestly deserve more of it in our lives.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1 Can condensed milk
  • 1 Cup chocolate chips
  • 1 Cup cookie dough, cut into pieces

Directions:

-Whisk the heavy cream until light and fluffy, around 2 minutes.

-Pour the condensed milk and continue beating until creamy and tick, around 3 more minutes.

Add the ¾ Cup chocolate chips and ¾ Cup cookie dough pieces and with the help of a spatula incorporate them into the ice cream base.

-Transfer the mix to a baking pan.

-Top with the remaining chocolate chip and cookie dough pieces and take to the freezer.

-Freeze for 2 hours or until it has an ice cream like consistency.
