Whether it is Valentine’s Day or just a special occasion, this anniversary love cake is an eye candy and tastes heavenly too! Go give it a try!
Ingredients:
- 2 boxes of white cake mix
- 8 large Egg whites
- 2 ½ C water
- 1 C canola oil
- 2 tsp cinnamon extract
- 3 – 9inch round cake pans
- 1 – 10inch round cake board
Vanilla Frosting:
- 3 C unsalted butter, softened
- 6 C powdered sugar
- 5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Pink gel food coloring:
- 1 disposable piping bag
- 1 large piping bag with star tip
Valentine’s Day Sprinkles:
- 3 Red Rock Candy Sticks
- 2 Red Heart Marshmallow sticks
- Red foiled chocolate hearts
You can also try make this with old fashioned chocolate cake.
Heart Cake Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 and spray cake pans with pam baking spray
2. Using a hand mixer and large bowl, beat all cake ingredients until combined and smooth
3. Pour batter evenly into the three pans
4. Place into the oven and back for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
5. Allow to cool completely
Frosting directions:
1. Using a standing mixer, beat all ingredients except for the color until combined and smooth but stiff with peaks
2. Beat in a few drops of pink coloring until combined
3. Scoop 1 C of the pink frosting into another bowl and mix in a few more drops of pink to make it darker
Building the Cake directions :
1. Place one cake layer onto the cake board and cut the dome off the cake to make an even layer
2. Repeat step with other two layers
3. Scoop 1 C of pink frosting onto the bottom layer and spread evenly
4. Place the second cake layer on top and spread evenly 1 more cup of frosting
5. Place the last layer of cake on top and frost with remaining pink frosting
6. Using some valentine’s day sprinkles, coat the bottom part of the cake with sprinkles
7. Place the darker pink frosting into the microwave for 10 seconds to soften it
8. Scoop it into the piping bag
9. Cut the tip off the piping bag and pipe drips around the top edge
10. Scoop the lighter pink frosting into the large piping bag
11. Pipe dollops around the top and sprinkle some more Valentine’s Day
12. Add Sprinkles on top
Decorate the cake however you would like.
