Sharing is caring!

This Funfetti mug cake is a birthday cake in a mug! It’s so delicious I don’t think I want to bake a traditional cake ever again! The result is a super fluffy, super moist and incredibly good mug cake that’s perfect for celebrating a birthday or just for celebrating anything worth celebrating.

Homemade Funfetti Mug Cake

I’m going to be honest here, I love mug cakes. I mean single serving cakes are perfect when you are craving something sweet and delicious but don’t want to use a lot of dishes and spend 1 hour in the kitchen. They are also amazing when those huge sweet cravings attack and you just need a dessert ASAP.

Mug cakes are the easiest desserts you can ever make. Basically just mix all the ingredients in the same bug you are going to be cooking it and eating it from (no dirty dishes!) and then just pop into the microwave for 2 minutes and voila you are all set.

Can you make a Funfetti mug cake in the oven?

If you’ve never made a mug cake before chances are you are wondering if it’s really possible to cook them in a microwave. Yes, they are going to turn out great if you just microwave them for a very short amount of time, that’s what prevents your cake from being dry and spongy.

However, if you don’t own a microwave or just prefer to use the oven beter you can also bake it for around 25 minutes (or until done, it would definitely vary according to the mug you are using). Just make sure you are using an oven safe mug.

Another awesome flavor to try is this red velvet mug cake!

What toppings go well with a funfetti mug cake?

That’s the beautiful thing about this confetti mug cake, you don’t need any additional toppings. This cake is so moist and soft and delicious on it’s own you don’t need to add anything extra.

However, if you want to give them so extra festive flair feel free to top them with some whipped cream or frosting dollop. Or honestly with anything you are craving in that moment. Your mug cake, your rules.
