Ways To Make This Kool-Aid Ice Cream A Family Affair

Here’s the deal. Sometimes, it’s just not fun to cook and be all by yourself in the kitchen. What I love about this simple ice cream recipe is that it’s going to be certain to draw in some kitchen helpers as well.

Let the kids join in on the fun and help to create a dessert that they’re going to be proud of and brag about to all of their friends. Since there aren’t many ingredients to add into this homemade ice cream recipe, give each person a task and let them take charge and run with.

(And yes, since you’re the adult, you’re probably going to be the one on dish duty…but at least you’ll get to lick the bowl clean without judgment!)

Makes 8 servings

Prep time: 10 minutes

Chill time: 8 hours

Ingredients:

2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold

1 – 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk

1 packet mixed berry Kool Aid

1 packet cherry Kool Aid

Directions:

1. Using a stand mixer, pour the heavy whipping cream into the bowl and whip the cream on medium high speed until thickened and soft peaks begin to form.

2. Continue beating the heavy cream while adding the sweetened condensed milk in a steady stream. Beat just until stiff peaks begin to form, being careful not to over mix.

3. Separate the cream mixture evenly into two bowls. Add the cherry Kool Aid mix in one bowl, and the mixed berry Kool Aid mix to the other bowl. Fold the Kool Aid Mix into the cream mixture until it’s well combined.

4. Using a Spoon, add the Kool Aid cream mixtures into a freezer-safe container, alternating between red and blue. After all the ice cream has been added to the container, use a knife to swirl the two colors together.

5. Place a lid on the container or cover tightly with plastic wrap and freeze for six to eight hours.

When you’re ready to eat it, pull the ice cream out 5-10 minutes early to allow the container to sit at room temperature so it softens the ice cream, and makes it easier to scoop.
